Welcome to Week 4!

Here’s what’s on tap for this week:

Tuesday (2/16):

  • We’re going to move from talking about peas to people, as we apply Mendel’s research to humans.
  • We’ll spend a good part of the day on pedigrees, those “family trees” of genetic information.
  • I’ll show you some examples of different pedigrees and we’ll discuss how pedigrees are used.

For people in the lab:

  • We’ll be doing a lab that examines the idea of probabilities. Please remember that your pink sheet is due at the beginning of lab.

Thursday (2/18):

  • On Thursday, we’re going to spend some more time with pedigrees by looking at how pedigrees can be used to determine whether a particular genetic disorder is dominant or recessive or if it’s autosomal or sex-linked.
